Chiropractic Philosophy - Holistic, safe, gentle & effective

Chiropractic is one of the world’s largest primary health care professions. It is a drug-free, surgery-free and non-invasive approach to healthcare and this is what makes it such a popular choice for so many people. Chiropractic is holistic, safe, gentle and effective.

Why is Chiropractic so important?

Chiropractic was established as a profession over 100 years ago by DD Palmer. He wrote extensively about the philosophy behind Chiropractic and why it is so important. Chiropractic has always been about whole body wellness (holism) – the removal of back pain is a side effect of adjustments.

Many of the reasons why patients visit Chiropractors, such as pain, are just a symptom of an underlying interference or ‘subluxation’ of the nervous system. Chiropractors do not treat the pain, we treat the underlying cause of your pain.

The power of the human nervous system

The human body is self-healing and self-regulating.The nervous system controls all functions in your body, allowing this self-regulation. If your nervous system is restricted, the pathway of the messages can become mixed causing symptoms such as pain, numbness and tingling.

As the skull protects the brain from damage, the spine acts as a shield to protect your nervous system. However, if any of the segments (vertebrae) of the spine become misaligned it can cause an interference with the messages being carried by the nerve. Chiropractors refer to these misalignments or adhesions in the spine as ‘subluxations’.

If gone unchecked and uncorrected these misalignments can lead to more chronic symptoms. The role of the Chiropractor is to correct these misalignments which then allows the body to self-heal.
